Center for Inquiry to Address Wide Range of Human Rights Abuses at UN Conference
February 27, 2014
The Center for Inquiry (CFI) is preparing to engage in global human rights discourse at the upcoming 25th regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC), to be held March 3-28 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The HRC meets biannually to debate topics and consider resolutions related to basic human rights outlined in documents such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.
CFI representatives, led by writer and activist Raheel Raza, are scheduled to speak on the persecution of religious minorities in Pakistan, the crackdown on free speech in Bangladesh, the spread of female genital mutilation, and discrimination against LGBT persons based on “traditional values,” among many other issues.
