CFI Seeks New Outreach Director as Lauren Becker Moves to Marketing
August 30, 2012
“The work that CFI does—the scientific and secular values we represent—need to be fought for if we don’t want humanity to backslide into the Dark Ages,” declared Becker. “I’m very happy to move to this new marketing position and will do everything I can to make sure our work makes an impact, not just within the movement, but in the public square as well.”
Added Paul Fidalgo, CFI’s director of communications, “Lauren’s new role provides CFI with a stronger and more dynamic public relations operation, one that can better tackle the wide breadth of tasks involved in articulating CFI’s message. I’m thrilled to be able to work with her in this new capacity, and I expect great things.”
Before her time with CFI, Lauren earned a degree in geography, with coursework focusing on cultural landscapes, global perspectives, and the physical sciences of ecology, astronomy, forestry, and geology. She then worked in a variety of fields, including volunteering in the Canadian arctic, producing children’s programming for public television, and guiding hikes in Crater Lake National Park. Known by many for her commentaries on Point of Inquiry, CFI’s premiere podcast, she is an experienced environmental activist and advocate for science literacy and education. She holds a Masters of Education in Science and the Public.
