Separation of Church and State: Death by a Thousand Cuts
Rev. Barry Lynn will explore how Religious Right activists have used innovative legal theories, mass media strategies, and partisan electoral efforts to undermine real religious liberty.
Since 1992 Lynn has served as executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State. Based in Washington, D.C., the organization is dedicated to the preservation of the Constitution's religious liberty provisions. Lynn's most recent book is Piety and Politics: The Right Wing Assault on Religious Freedom (2007), and he is the co-author of First Freedom First: A Citizen's Guide to Protecting Religious Liberty and the Separation of Church and State . (2008). Lynn authored several law review and professional articles on free speech, school vouchers, and President Bush's "faith based initiative."
