Charles Darwin Day Celebration
Please join us for a celebration of the discoveries and life of Charles Darwin!
This festive gathering will mark the 199th birthday of this historic figure and celebrate the enormous benefits that scientific knowledge, acquired through human curiosity and ingenuity, has contributed to the advancement of humanity.
Our program will include:
- Guest Speaker Dr. H. James Birx, professor of anthropology at Canisius College and distinguished research scholar at SUNY Geneseo, presenting an examination of Darwin's life, thought, and influence.
- Buffalo Zoo Kids Corner - Zoo Docent Berti Arywitz will be giving a presentation for children about zoo animals and the science of how we care for these distant and beloved relatives of ours.
- Charles Darwin himself! (Or could it be an impersonator?) Come and see for yourself, as this lively character expresses his gratitude for our celebration and explains the significance of his scientific findings.
- Readings from On The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin with the Center for Inquiry's Director of Libraries, Tim Binga.
