Drinking Skeptically WNY
Drinking Skeptically is an informal social event designed to promote fellowship and networking among skeptics, critical thinkers, and like-minded individuals. There are dozens of Drinking Skeptically groups across the United States and Canada, many supported or sponsored by the Center for Inquiry. The new WNY group, created Jan. 14 by Friend of the Center Carri Jones, will meet at 7 p.m. on the last Friday of each month at a rotating location in Western New York. This month, the group will meet at:
Allen Street Hardware Café
245 Allen Street, Buffalo
Phone: (716) 882-8843
Visit the Drinking Skeptically WNY Meetup page to meet members and join the group. There are no membership dues or fees, apart from the responsibility to pay your own food-and-beverage bill.
Drinking Skeptically provides an opportunity for skeptics to talk, share ideas (and yes, drink) in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Members and guests discuss the issues of the day and whatever else is on their minds. But most of all, the idea is to have fun while promoting skepticism, science, and rationality.
Don’t drink? Don’t let that stop you from joining the group! Some of the world’s most famous skeptics are teetotalers, and Drinking Skeptically is happy to have you!
Become a fan on the Drinking Skeptically WNY Facebook page — the one that lists this event as a nine-hour ride till four a.m. Saturday (oh, Buffalo...)
Remember that drinking skeptically means drinking responsibly.
