If Not God What?: Being Good without God

America is still a strongly religious country, divided by race, income--and religion.  The challenge for the humanist is to live a life of good without God.  What kinds of "authority" are available to the humanist, and does the humanistic world-view address the claim of religious men and women that an ethics without God is just a matter of...opinion.

The Secular Sunday Platform addresses represent an alternative to traditional religious services and are designed to encourage ethical reflection and practice. They promise an innovative look at virtues, values, and the basic human decencies of love, honor, tolerance, and respect. Platforms are held every other Sunday.

This Sunday's talk will be delivered by Prof. R. Joseph Hoffmann, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chair of the Committee for the Scientific Examination of Religion. Prof. Hoffmann holds a M.Div. from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Christian origins from Oxford University.

This event is FREE and open to the public.
