Earlier this month, representatives from several secular organizations, including the Center for Inquiry, met with the U.S. Department of State's Office of International Religious Freedom in Washington D.C. to discuss the secular community and its views on religious freedom.

CFI's petition to the White House on behalf of jailed Indonesian atheist Alexander Aan closed today with 8,000 signatures, well short of the 25,000 necessary to secure an official response from the Obama administration. Yet while we fell short, we are resolved to keep working his case.
