Phil Plait Preaches Skepticism at the Gnomedex Conference
August 21, 2009
At the 9th Annual Gnomedex conference, JREF President and Bad Astronmer Phil Plait gave a presentation today on skepticism that was featured on the front page of CNN.com, streaming live. Gnomedex is a Seattle-based technology conference, and focuses on the experiential role that technology has in our daily lives.
Plait talked about organized skepticism, the importance of critical thinking and plugged the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry and the Center for Inquriy, among other organizations. He also focused on grassroots skepticism activism, highlighting Skepchicks.org , stopsylviabrown.net , skepticamp.org and other independent projects advancing the skeptical perspective on various extraordinary claims that most people in our society buy into.
It is great to see the organized skeptical movement and its goals continuing to be advanced among the ostensibly science-booster tech community like this.Commenting is not available in this weblog entry.
