A public dialogue on morality
April 28, 2011
On April 17, I engaged in a public dialogue on secular and religious morality with Father Jonathan Morris, an author and Fox News contributor. We both made brief opening statements, then sat down for a conversation with moderator Chris Jansing, host of the MSNBC show "Jansing and Company." An audience question-and-answer segment followed.
I haven't yet had fully reviewed my performance, but I do want to quickly respond to fellow secularists -- some of whom are my friends -- who are bothered that I didn't go harder on Morris' claims. I understand this complaint, as there was much to be critical of. However, this event was not a debate. It was a discussion. As such, my approach was less aggresive than it would have been in a formal debate. That being said, I am always open to advice, so if you have some, please share.
