ICYMI Here is me talking about whether atheism is a faith position

Here is an interview with me on whether atheism (or even 'militant' atheism) is a faith position.

Atheism is not a religion by definition.  The lack of belief in something does not constitute a dogma that requires anything of anyone.  Is not believing in rock monsters a religion or faith?

This is just a cheap ploy to shift focus away from the fact that the religious arguments are vacuous. First Corinthians 13:11 is ironic.  In order to put childish things away, one must dispose of the Bible itself.

Any answer beyond “No, lets move on” is playing into their game.

What remains to be said by most freethinkers, except maybe Hitchens, is that religion is with us because it is easier to be religious than to think, and because people are afraid to die.  End of subject.  If people were not intellectually lazy, and taught to fear death from an early age, there would be no more religion in the developed world.  Thanks to Europe for starting to “put away childish things”.

Law: “I know that God does not exist. I have definitively ascertained that God does not exist. I shall hold to this opinion, unless my whole way of seeing nature changes.”

Kuhn: “How do you know that?”

Law: “I believe it.”
