Psychic Carla Baron Called Out on Claim of Solving Natalee Holloway Case

June 14, 2010

I recently wrote about the arrest of Joran ven der Sloot, the main suspect in the Natalee Holloway disappearance. In my Discovery News column I duly noted that psychic Carla Baron said she solved the case years ago:

Natalee Holloway disappeared May 30, 2005, while on vacation in Aruba. Despite the efforts of countless searchers and psychics, police closed the case after two and a half years without finding Holloway or charging anyone in her disappearance.  (High–profile psychic Carla Baron of the television show  Haunting Evidence  claimed she solved the Holloway case several years ago, yet Holloway's family and the Aruban police are apparently unaware that the case has been solved.)

A few days later I noticed that Carla Baron herself (perhaps made aware of my blog by either Google or her psychic powers) replied:

*Psychic*Carla Baron
I didn't "claim" anything ... I KNOW.
Joran van der Sloot is responsible for the death of Natalee Holloway.

 I gamely responded in kind:

If you have psychic information about where Natalee Holloway's body is, or where the police can find incriminating evidence against Mr. Van der Sloot, please contact the FBI and Aruban police so that justice can be done, the family brought some closure, and the killer brought to justice. If you cannot provide this sort of information (on a case you claimed to have solved years ago) please stop exploiting this young woman's murder as a "success story" for your psychic powers.

I wonder if Ms. Baron will have any response...
