The Triumph of Law

November 17, 2010

For those of you who would like to hear about some event in the United Kingdom other than the engagement of Kate and William, a debate was held this past Saturday between noted Christian philosopher Alvin Plantinga and our own Stephen Law. I say “our own” because Stephen is Provost of our affiliate, the Centre for Inquiry UK, in addition to being Senior Lecturer in philosophy at Heythrop College, University of London. You can link to the podcast here . The debate focuses on Plantinga’s evolutionary argument against naturalism, essentially a clever (but flawed) attempt to use evolution to the theist’s advantage. Stephen quite capably points out the holes in Plantinga’s argument.

You will notice that the show was recorded on Christian Premier Radio and you will have to tolerate a minute or two of nauseating promotion—including a plug for an upcoming appearance by Michael Behe—but the quality of the debate more than makes up for the transitory sensation of disgust.
