March 26, 2012
Part Two of a two-part Darwin Day lecture by prominent anthropologist Ian Tattersall. On February 13, 2010, the Center for Inquiry – New York City presented a lecture and discussion at the City University of New York Hunter College. Its title: “Darwin and Human Evolution.” The event was co-sponsored by the student group Free Inquiry and Secular Humanism at CUNY-Hunter College.
Ian Tattersall is curator in the anthropology department at the American Museum of Natural History. He has concentrated his research over the past quarter-century in two main areas, in both of which he is an acknowledged leader: the analysis of the human fossil record, and the study of the ecology and systematics of the lemurs of Madagascar.
Following his lecture, Dr. Tattersall was joined by Dr. Massimo Pigliucci for a discussion of the issues raised in his lecture. Pigliucci is chair of the Philosophy Department at City University of New York at Lehman College.
