Episode 139 - Gunfight: The Battle Over the Right to Bear Arms in America, Part 2
August 06, 2012
Part Two of a special presentation featuring UCLA Law School professor Adam Winkler.
On February 17, 2012, the Center for Inquiry – Los Angeles presented a lecture by UCLA Law School professor Adam Winkler based on his book Gunfight: The Battle Over the Right to Bear Arms in America.
According to Winkler, today’s gun debate labors under countless misconceptions. Did you know that America’s Founding Fathers welcomed burdensome gun laws that today’s gun lobby would never accept, Or that Old West towns like Dodge City had some of the strictest gun laws in American history? Did you know that the Ku Klux Klan began as a gun control organization … or that the Black Panthers launched the modern gun rights movement?
Adam Winkler is Professor of Law at UCLA School of Law. He writes for The Daily Beast and The Huffington Post.
