Part One of a three-part presentation featuring the kickoff event of the 2011 conference of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry.
On Thursday, October 27, 2011, the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry and the Center for Inquiry presented the opening session of their conference, CSIcon, at the Marriott Hotel in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
The session included opening remarks by Ronald A. Lindsay, president and CEO of the Center for Inquiry; Barry Karr, executive director of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry; and Kendrick Frazier, editor of the Committee’s flagship magazine, Skeptical Inquirer. This was followed by a panel titled “The Investigators,” moderated by Armadeo Sarma, chair of the German and European Skeptics Societies. Speakers include CSI senior research fellow Joe Nickell; journalist Massimo Polidoro, a cofounder of the Italian national skeptics organization; Karen Stollznow, member of the CSI executive council and former co-host of the Center for Inquiry podcast Point of Inquiry; and Benjamin Radford, deputy editor of Skeptical Inquirer.
This episode features introductory remarks by Ronald Lindsay, Barry Karr, and Kendrick Frazier, followed by Armadeo Sarma’s introduction to the “Investigators” panel and the presentation by Joe Nickell.
