Episode 189 - How Post-Atheism Will Redefine What It Means To Be A Humanist In The 21st Century, P.1

September 02, 2013

On Friday, November 9, 2012, the Center for Inquiry – Transnational in Amherst, New York, presented a lecture by futurist and ethicist George Dvorsky. Dvorsky was introduced by my co-host, Lauren Becker.

Humanism and atheism have become virtually synonymous in recent years. In Dvorsky’s view, this has been a troubling development, leading to the withering of humanistic values and the rise of an alienating militant atheism. He calls for humanists to adopt a post-atheist stance.

George Dvorsky focuses on cutting-edge science and technology as they affect human performance and experience. He is board chair of the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies and program director for the Rights of Non-Human Persons program.
