Episode 96 - Being Good: A Public Dialogue on Morality, Part 1

October 10, 2011

Part one of a stimulating dialogue on morality between a secular humanist activist and a Roman Catholic priest featuring secular humanist Michael De Dora, executive director of the Center for Inquiry – New York City; and Father Jonathan Morris, a priest for the Archdiocese of New York and parochial vicar of the historic Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral. Fr.Morris is a news contributor and analyst for the Fox News Channel, Fox Business Channel, and The Wall Street Journal.

The dialogue is moderated by Chris Jansing, a veteran journalist who hosts Jansing and Co. on MSNBC.

What makes a person moral? Which principles determine whether an action is right or wrong? Which virtues are worth striving for? The Catholic and secular worldviews have long been in conflict over these questions. Yet where exactly do they diverge? And do they have anything in common?

This presentation was given in the Tishman Auditorium at New York University, on April 7, 2011.
