Jamila Bey

I have been shunned from my family since I no longer subscribe to their religious traditions. CFI has provided a community of people who accept me because of my doubt in religion and confidence in scientific proof. I’ve found wonderful friends and a tribe with whom I share my deepest convictions in a safe, nonjudgmental, and fun environment. Having Secular Families Network meetings is the high point of my calendar, and without CFI, my family and I would be largely without similar-thinking minds and completely without science-loving playmates for my son. CFI has been a beacon of light, reason and love in my life. I thank science for CFI!

I spent close to two decades of my life searching for what I believe, as opposed to simply what I disbelieve. Due in no small part to CFI–DC, not only have I become much more interested in the positives of secular humanism, I found a community where I can learn, teach, debate, and speak my mind.
