Join Us for Our Second Annual Civic Days at the Nation's Capital!
July 18-21, 2009

Join us for a four day event in Washington, D.C. Participate in and explore the inner workings of Congress and the nation's capital city. You will hear about what's on Congress's agenda right now; about lobbying works; about The Credibility Project, an analysis of 650 global warming "experts"; visit the National Archives and other historical sites; go on a walking tour of Robert Green Ingersoll's life in Washington; meet and hear from Congressional staffers; and lobby your own members of Congress. And you will also enjoy networking with other Friends of the Center from across the country.

The following is a tentative schedule of events. First lesson of Washington: Congress sets the agenda.

July 18 Saturday:

5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Informal welcome social hosted by Melody Hensley, CFI-DC Executive Director and OPP staff from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM (Doors open at 1:00 PM). Including lite fare-pizza, salad, and soft drinks.

July 19 Sunday:

8:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. What's moving through the Congress - Briefing by Toni Van Pelt
9:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. The Credibility Project, an analysis of the 650 global warming denier "experts." Thomas O'Brien and Dr. Stuart Jordan, emeritus senior staff scientist at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. Working in Coalition with Other Organizations Private docent visit to the National Archives
11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. SAMHA - Charitable Choice presented by Toni Van Pelt
12:15 p.m. - 12:45 p.m. Travel time to the National Gallery of Art, 4th St. and Constitution Ave., NW
12:45 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Lunch at own expense in Cafeteria at the National Gallery of Art
1:45 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Travel to the National Archives
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Group tour at the National Archives
3:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Travel time back to CFI office
3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Training and Role Play
