Paulette Cooper has written several books including the 1971 classic The Scandal of Scientology for which she was awarded the Conscience-in-Media Award. She was subsequently also the target of 19 different lawsuits by the Church of Scientology as well as an elaborate plot called Operation Freakout which was uncovered by the FBI.
