CFI-DC’s new gardening project!
March 22, 2009
The Junior Investigators and CFI-DC's youth of all ages and their families will be designing, planting, cultivating, and monitoring CFI-DC's garden. The Junior Investigators are planning a shade garden for CFI-DC's backyard. We will be planting Hostas, Ferns, Hydrangeas, Lilies-of-the-Valley, Bluebells, Daylilies, Coleus, Alyssum, Spearmint, and Impatiens.
The Junior Investigators began the project on March 22, 2009 by sketching the layout of the backyard and planning the location of different plants. We also planted Coleus, Alyssum, Spearmint, and Impatiens in individual biodegradable plants which we will be cultivating at home in preparation for their planting at our next session.
Youth of all ages are welcome to join the Junior Investigators on Sunday, April 26 for the official planting of the garden. We will be composting and weeding the garden and adding worms. We will also be planting a variety of plants for this event, including Hostas, Ferns, Hydrangeas, Lilies-of-the-Valley, Bluebells, and Daylilies. In addition, we will bring back the plants we planted and brought home on March 22 in order to add them to the garden. We hope you will join us for this exciting event!
We encourage any visitors to CFI-DC to visit our backyard and view the hard work of our youth.
