Dedication to Robert Brown

December 2, 2008

Robert Brown of Holtwood, Pennsylvania was again recognized for his stanch commitment to secularist values and skeptical inquiry at a November 15 ceremony at the Center for Inquiry Washington, DC office.  A bronze placque with a Robert Ingersoll quote, a bench, and a hinoki cypress tree—one of Bob’s favorites—was dedicated to his memory at the CFI/DC second anniversary celebration.

The short ceremony was held in the Center’s backyard patio and garden that Bob helped design and build when the office opened in September 2006. CFI Public Policy Director Toni Van Pelt and CFI CEO Ronald Lindsay offered words of gratitude for Bob’s volunteer efforts and financial support to launch the DC office.

Attending family members included Bob’s wife Peggy, his son, Bob, of Bethlehem, PA., and his daughter Elizabeth, of Washington, DC and former executive director of CFI/DC. The ceremony ended with a toast to Bob’s life and legacy as a humanist.
