Yet another highly enjoyable and hugely enlightening podcast but I was just wondering if anyone knows what date Richard is referring to when he is talking about the Wisdom Psalms? He says these were unlikely to have been written for a king because of the late date at which they were written. He also says there were no kings at that time. Any idea which country they were written in?

No complaints, just my curiosity tweaked when I listened to the podcast.

To the producers of the podcast:

First, well done! This is a great show, and sorely needed. Bob Price, you rock!

I have one request, however: Could you please name each podcast with short subject titles rather than merely “Episode ###”? Something like “015 Pharisees, Scribes, and Sadducees” would be far more useful when looking through the list of episodes than “Episode 015”. This is especially true for those who listen on portable MP3 players, since they typically only show the list of titles without the longer descriptions. It’s too late for the first 15 episodes, but it would be really great if you could do this for future episodes.

Thanks
—Dan

Hi folks.

I know that Price has mentioned this a few times in his Bible Geek podcast and maybe his human bible podcast, but I am unable to find the references.

I am interested in the evolution of thought within early Christianity of the second coming of Christ.
If I recall correctly, Christ said that he would come again soon, his followers said he would come in that generation and then it was then extended and extended because of continual disappointment of the failed second coming.

I know that there is a scripture trail of this change of thought, but I need help finding it.

If any of you know the scriptural references, I would greatly appreciate some help.

Thanks,

-Clay

The long awaited Human Bible episode eight arrives! This week we look into some of the harsh lessons the Bible teaches, most involving some kind of horrible death. We introduce a new segment called “Audience Inquisition in which we ask you, dear listener, for some answers. This week we ask if you’ve ever heard someone ‘quote’ something from the Bible that isn’t actually in the Bible.

We also wonder where the heck the original writings that make up the Bible actually are. My first guess: the same mysterious place that entire bag of M&M’s I dropped down the couch went. And, we inquire about the most distant places from Jerusalem that the Bible mentions.

And, most important of all, we break some news about the Bible and masturbation. It’s good news, people. I mean, uh, it’s probably good news for this one friend of mine.

Special thanks to Heather and Andrew for submitting the questioned discussed on this week’s show.
