I come from a Methodist Family. Immediately after my confirmation to the Church I (when I was about 12) I no longer attended church. I saw religious activities more as social gatherings, I never really understood or could relate to religious teachings. Older kids didn’t go to church, it seemed to be more for the old and the very young. As I grew older and wiser, I came to understand more the impact of religious teachings on society. It was then that I sought out alternatives. Secular Humanism may or may not be what I seek. But it has many of the ingredients I am looking for. I find it difficult to relate to large groups because I feel it is difficult to align ourselves one-on-one much less in large groups on all the issues that touch us as individuals. |
