I grew up in Alaska and loved it here. I began my college education at the local state university. After two years, I transferred to a technical college to study engineering in California. Though with decent grades, after three years I decided that engineering wasn’t for me. I transferred back to the University of Alaska. With me, I brought my boyfriend of the time, whom I married shortly after. I graduated with a BS in mathematics and never looked back. We have one daughter, age 10. Our daughter is obsessively interested in birds, and we do everything we can to help her hobbies and interests flourish.
I currently operate a small home child care business in semi-rural Alaska. The kids and I spend a great deal of time watching wildlife and exploring the forest and fields near-by. My husband works on the oil fields as a cook and commutes to and from the arctic tundra every 2 weeks. Its an interesting and odd lifestyle, but we like it.
