(CNN)—Political, religious and sexual behaviors may be reflections
of intelligence, a new study finds.
Evolutionary psychologist Satoshi Kanazawa at the the London School of Economics and Political Science correlated data on these behaviors with IQ from a large national U.S. sample and found that, on average, people who identified as liberal and atheist had higher IQs. This applied also to sexual exclusivity in men, but not in women. The findings will be published in the March 2010 issue of Social Psychology Quarterly.

Canoe trip

I’m really looking forward to the canoe trip on the Yough in August. That should be a lot of fun. Maybe next year, we can do a whitewater rafting thing, in addition to the canoe event. The Yough and the Cheat have some of the best whitewater rafting east of the Mississippi.

Hello folks,

I am 98% sure that I will be in Pittsburgh the 21-24 for a convention. I would love to have a get together of fellow skeptics. If you guys could suggest a place near town to have dinner. The 21st is Sunday I think that will probably be the best day for me to meet up with everyone. Please post here if Sunday evening dinner will work for you.

I really want to meet as many people as possible.

Sunday Bicycle Ride

CFI Pittsburgh will stage an informal bicycle ride this Sunday, July 27. The bike ride is set for 10:30 on Sunday morning. We can meet on the Southside at the Riverfront at the Hot Metal Bridge at 10:30 AM. There is parking there and a Crazy Mocha. The South Side Trail meets the Hot Metal Bridge there and we can cross to the Eliza Furnace Trail and cross back to the Southside at the Smithfield Bridge.
