ABC informs me that, “The burqa is the wardrobe of choice for many Muslim women.”

I guess all those beatings and honor killings of women are their “choice” also.  I sure do feel silly.  I’m so glad Muslim women are so free to choose!  rolleyes

Really?  I was told by a Muslim woman if she doesn’t wear it she will get raped (and I would too since I don’t).  rolleyes  IMHO, and from what I was hearing from her, she is wearing it out of fear, not by choice.  Any woman hides behind a hajab or a burqa doesn’t seem liberated to me, esp with comments like that.

I guess when one’s “choices” lie with a) wearing a burqa and being left alone, or b) wearing more “western” garb and being snatched off the street,
beaten, and beheaded, then yeah, the burqa looks like a sensible choice. Like an old mentor of mine once told me: sometimes life gives you two choices -
one lousy choice, and one really lousy choice.

The point is, ABC should be ashamed they even used the term “choice” when describing Muslim women wearing burqas.  That’s like saying 9/11 was a small flight path error made by back-up freelance Muslim pilots.

Is the word “choice” even in the Islamic language?  Islam itself means “submission.” Thus people don’t choose things in Islam, they submit to them.

This is just another in a long line of media whitewashing of Islamic fundamentalism for fear of being called insensitive, politically incorrect or racist.

To paraphrase Martin Niemöller, “First the Islamic fundamentalists forced women to wear burqas, and the media did not speak out...”

LMAO ROFLR
LOL I love your reaction, very understandable and very appropriate smile .  Their pretext reminds me of when a CNN reporter once asked an iraqi citizen about sadam when this one was still there, and the iraqi went like “we voted for him 100 %” LOL !!!!!!!  Ohh Myyy… I guess the world is just so behind.
