I am a firm believer that people should not be discriminated against on the basis of religion, non-religion, color, gender, or sexual orientation. But this is really pushing it.
I’m sure the lady was adept at cutting hair, if she had a barber’s or stylist’s license. But customers would not see it that way. When I walk into a new salon, I scope out the stylists and look for a woman with wild curls like my own. If I like what she’s done with her own curls, I make an appointment with her specifically.
I suppose it looks like I’m some crazy lady walking into a brothel - pointing and saying “I want that one!” - but it takes one with curly hair to know one with curly hair. So if I don’t feel I can trust someone with pin-straight hair to understand how to cut mine, I certainly wouldn’t feel comfortable with someone with no hair showing at all, unless I had seen her work tested on other people.
