Okay, this ought to be real interesting and entertaining. Enlighten me on what the “one fact” is.
He says the high US murder rate isn’t caused by high gun ownership, since Canada has high gun ownership but a low murder rate. What he doesn’t say is that Canada has high rifle ownership, but regulates handguns, which are the primary weapon used in murder in the US, as tightly as in most European countries.
There are a lot of other misrepresentations in Bowling for Columbine, but that’s the one that makes him wrong, as opposed to a demagogue.
Most of the hand guns brought into Canada are in trade for the marijuana that we rampantly grow here.
I, once, got into a raging debate with a US citizen about handguns and how they were made for me :O to help protect me :O ...as a woman. He was debating over the Carry and Conceal laws that have been passed in some states. It didn’t seem to matter, to him, that it isn’t women who own all these handguns….using them to defend ourselves. I guess he was trying to convince me to go and buy one…and then I would be “safer”.
Years and years ago I insured a guy’s house. He was broken into and guess what his claim was? Some 300 handguns, rifles, shotguns stolen along with over 100 swords and knives. I was depressed for a while after that.
