I’m trying to find info on this to help a friend who wants info on this.  What I’m looking for is something that gives info that shows this is just a conspiracy and there is really nothing to it, including the link http://www.itanimulli.com that it’s just a hoax and a joke in the case of the link.  I thought we hashed this over before, but I can’t seem to find it.

Not sure, but Skepdic has an entry on it. The Illuminati is basically a nonexistent ‘secret organization’ that’s a laugh-line for everyone but conspiracy nuts. Read the entry HERE.

The book and movie “Angels and Demons” has some interesting insights into the origins of the Illuminati and its relationship to religion.

Briefly, the background of the Bavarian Illuminati puzzle is this. On May 1, 1776, in Bavaria, Dr. Adam Weishaupt, a professor of Canon Law at Ingolstadt University and a former Jesuit, formed a secret society called the Order of the Illuminati within the existing Masonic lodges of Germany. Since Masonry is itself a secret society, the Illuminati was a secret society within a secret society, a mystery inside a mystery, so to say. In 1785 the Illuminati were suppressed by the Bavarian government for allegedly plotting to overthrow all the kings in Europe and the Pope to boot. This much is generally agreed upon by all historians. 1 Everything else is a matter of heated, and sometimes fetid, controversy.

I don’t know if a book that is fictionalized would help anymore than “Left Behind” would, but the link might.  Thanks

The plot is fictionalized, but I believe it was well researched and tried to use available historical data as a foundation.
In the movie, I like Tom Hanks, who plays the role of an agnostic researcher ..... smile

I don’t think Angels and Demons was well-researched, actually. I kind of skimmed through this, but here’s an analysis: http://www.decentfilms.com/articles/fact-checking-brown.html

I read it…...too bad….however the movie also made the point that the Illuminati actually were not involved at all. It was the priest who fabricated the “attack by the illuminati”  I still liked the movie and that premise of creating a false non-existent enemy. This type of deception goes on today under many guises. Did Hitler not invade Poland on a false accusation of Polish belligerence, while he was the one creating the border incident?
