Part Two of a two-part lecture on the development of Christianity by medical doctor and independent scholar Benjamin Abelow, including the audience question period.

On February 8, 2008, the Center for Inquiry – Transnational in Amherst, New York, presented this lecture by Dr. Benjamin Abelow.

Amid heated debate about religion, a simple fact with profound implications has gone almost entirely unnoticed: New Testament themes closely parallel historical patterns of childhood punishment and abandonment. These parallels reveal much about the origins, appeal, and meaning of Christianity.

Benjamin Abelow, M. D., taught at the Yale School of Medicine for eight years before becoming an independent scholar exploring the links between childhood and religion from an interdisciplinary perspective.
