I never got baptized. Anybody else?

Yes, when I was around 9. A few weeks ago, I got un-baptized! (So I don’t know how to vote.)

I was born in Communist Albania to a non-religious Orthodox Christian mother and Atheist Muslim-originated father… never stood a chance.

My mother bucked the convention of the time, she believe it to be our choice. I remember hearing her arguing with a neighbor about that, the neighbor was more concerned with our ‘eternal souls’, my mother with our option to make our own choices. She probably had to fight my dad over the same thing. She won. I have never been baptized, and never baptized my children. Never turned on by magical water!

I was baptized; and I will always hate myself for not making more of an effort to prevent it.

I’m pretty sure you’re joking. Baptism is usually done prior to the age of consent, so it’s not your fault. It’s. Not. Your. Fault. (Good Will Hunting…)

The unbaptism was cool. A hair dryer was involved.

One of my all-time favorites. In fact, it’s probably on top.

No!  I went to Catholic schools but getting baptized meant going to baptismal class.

I would not stay after school to put up with nuns more than necessary.

Then I started reading science fiction at age 9 and decided I was an agnostic at 12.

I was brought up a Catholic, and was baptised while an infant.  I can’t remember it well, but I think Michael Corleone was there, or someone like that.

I was baptized and raised Catholic.  Most of the biblical stuff I didn’t really buy like the ceremonies, the sacraments, and going to church every weekend, but the concept of a personal loving God who looks out for you, makes life meaningful, and going to heaven after you die has been hard to shake. I related a lot to what Jaco Gericke had to say.

Mid-Atlantic, I don’t know why get so upset about a ceremony where they splash some water on you.  Now, a ceremony where they cut off part of your unit, that’s something to get upset about!

Traveler, I’d never heard of an unbaptism before.  I don’t know how that’s done.  Is there an uncircumcision ceremony?  I’m also unsure how that’s done.

I hadn’t heard of one either. It’s the sort of thing you find out about when you attend a party with a bunch of heathens.
