is humanism a beautiful thing or what?

Having a beautiful young {only about a half year older than me} sweety totally upturn the days of my life. It’s fun to have been reminded of all the varied things that make us human and loving it.

From waking up in the morning to a gentle touch, experiencing the regular choirs that have accompanied humans since forever.
Then I’m back in confusion trying to understand where we lost all of that. . .

I’ve mentioned “Hollyworld” in many of my posts… and have never been able to come up with the words to define what I mean when I use the term - and know I’m still going to fail but for starters

Hollyworld is that whole Reaganomics self-mesmerization that if you were in the right time and place ~ you were entitled to whatever you squeezed out of the system. . . depending on how well you learned to play the system.
“Too much is never enough.”
“If you dream it hard enough you deserve it.”
“God tells me I’m right.”
... and all that tripe.
~ ~ ~

So what about this thought?
=================

Humanism is living as though you were the eyes with which god knows itself

OK, I can’t leave that hanging out there unattended, or I’ll never get to sleep.

What I mean is that totally fantastical notion that we, me, are the only* product of evolution that has had the ability to gaze upon it all and be totally blown away.  I’m going to be gone in a few more years, but damned if I’m not here and now and experiencing something totally unique to at least four billion years worth of biology and evolution. Is that freak’n cool or what?

Glory be and where is a tree hug!
can i have a witness

* yea, yea, yea… to the best of my knowledge. . . . . . .

Had to read this a few times before (I think) I figured out what you meant to say (little typo):

citizenschallenge.pm - 24 October 2011 11:05 PM

Humanism is living as though you were the eyes with which god knows itself

Right?

Yes, it is a beautiful and awe-inspiring thought! Sort of gives me chills to meditate upon it. As far as we know—at least on this planet—there has never before existed an entity capable of apprehending the cosmos which produced it. It’s almost spiritual.

I get all of that. It is pretty fanatical to think of history building us and looking back at the pieces. Evolution is amazing in all. I am in awe but not very spiritual with any of it. To be at random is a real gamble and the only one I enjoy taking.

One of the final lines in “Inherit the Wind” comes from the Clarence Darrow character, who says that WJ Bryant “got lost because he looked for God too high up and too far away.” No doubt the Hollywooders intended it for multiple interpretations but I’ll interpret it my way and I like it.

I cannot in good conscience support CFI under the current leadership. I am here in dissent and in support of a Humanism that honors and respects everyone.

Yep, the trick is to knock something together that looks vaguely believable and then come back later to add links to the message or signature line.
