Yes, I think Traveler nailed it. While there will be and need to be debate about wat to cover in any situatio in which the government mandates some kind of healthcare, this seems to be a case of a minority of idealogues making a moral issue out of something that is a non-issue for almost everybody else, including the majority of ordinary Catholics. The reaction is out of proportion to the actual situation, and I don’t sympathise with it at all.

I think the birth control issue was a pretty masterful piece of political ju-jitsu by Obama and his team. It managed to split the religious right and the Republican party down the middle, on an issue he knows they have no chance of winning. I’d expect the whole thing was planned in advance to coincide with the beginning of the 2012 political season.

I agree. For the most part Obama has done the best he can with his surroundings.
