I found this video today, posted on facebook by a friend. I dig people who do good transcriptions like this and put them up; they’re quite educational.

Keith Jarrett is just too skilled. Yes, it sounds great, but that is him playing that tune and essentially improvising all of the inner counterpoint and phrase modifications as he goes, and it comes out perfect. It is no mistake to say that he’s one of the best improvisors in the world. I got a chance to see him do a concert with a jazz trio last year.

What a great way to spend an evening.
