Stephen Colbert seems to take this idiot by surprise. I wonder if he even knew what the show was about before agreeing to appear? At any rate, it’s kind of sad. The guest is Don McLeroy, former chairman of the Texas Board of Education, which has a huge influence on what winds up in school textbooks far beyond the borders of the Lone Star State. The guys is a Creationist, so you can guess how this goes.

Here are the best lines:

Don McLeroy: “That’s not true.”
Colbert: “No, I have personally chosen that it is true.”

Near the end:
Colbert: “I have always been a fan of reality by majority vote.”

The Colbert Report: Don McLeroy

Last night’s CR was one of the best I have ever seen. Colbert playing Mozart to his testicles (his “babies”) made me laugh aloud.  LOL

I don’t think he even knew Colbert was making fun of him.

Probably most of you caught this clip from Colbert’s show.  I’m generally pretty passive about my skepticism, but knowing that people like this are in positions of power really makes the point that I need to get off my butt.  I’d have posted this in the earlier thread, “Why religion is bad for people and other living creatures”, but that one has sort of petered out.
