What could be said about the Theory(!?) that the Universe might be 2 dimensional and projected as 3d from a 2d Surface, like we read in some newspapers recently (2011- )?
Is this a simplified explanation of the Work of t Hooft and Susskind, or a misinterpretation?

It’s not a brand new idea; it’s been around for at least 20 years. I read a book about it way back when. The physics is way over my head but I find the idea fascinating.

I think it’s a great idea. I read about it recently where they talked about how information doesn’t disappear in a black hole and how the whole universe could be a projection of some giant black hole—or something like that. 

Multiverse, block universe, and holographic universe are all fun hypotheses.

So the Universe could really be just 2d?

No, the universe is 3-D plus time dimensional. The holographic principal is about a way to look at information.

Any idea while it should show exactly that, i mean why pixelation should tell us it is a hologram?

If you had a microscope powerful enough to see atoms, you could detect the pixelation. Actually, you can do it using your nose instead. Think about it the next time you smell a dog poo: since you can smell it, it means a part of the poo is literarily in your nose. Then you can ask yourself: where does the poo begin and where does it end?
