“I feel that we should stop wasting our time trying to please the supernatural and concentrate on improving the welfare of human beings. I think that we should use our energy and our initiative to solve our problems, and stop relying on prayer and wishful thinking. If we have faith in ourselves, we won’t have to have faith in gods.”

― Ruth Hurmence Green

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me, that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down “happy.” They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.

If you believe in trying to make the best of the finite number of years we have on this planet (while not making it any worse for anyone else), think that pride and self-righteousness are the cause of most conflict and negativity, and are humbled by the vastness and mystery of the Universe, then I’m the same religion as you.

Thanks Free. BIg Paine fan. I only wish that there was a statue to him in D.C. Wait a minute, a thought just flashed through my aging mind, what if all of the atheist orgs. came together to push for some kind of Paine memorial in D.C? What do you think? Or maybe I asked that question here before. Anyway, it’s a thought.
