There’s this writing from WWII actually it’s about the build up to war in Germany.

it goes {very roughly}. . .

First they went after the Jews, I did nothing, because I was not one of them…
Then they went after the queers, I did nothing, because I was not one of them…
etc.,
etc.,
Then they came after me and there was no one left to stand up for me…
