It is just so ironic from The Economist.
The guys who forgot to talk about planned obsolescence for the last 60 years.

That’s because the whole point of the game was that he with the most toys wins
heck, this morning there’s this NPR story about the wonderful Riverside housing boom*, etc.
That is all this country, or at least the media, business, politicians cares about is maximizing that profit,
never acknowledging that every “profitable killing” is just that. Screwing someone else for one’s own enrichment.
There was an ancient story about that told to every educated generation of mankind.
The golden goose, and the killing of the golden goose.
But, buy ‘em books and buy ‘em books and all they do is eat the covers, and continue to idolize maximizing profits.
Willful ignorance, cannibalism, call it what you will but the Reaganomics religion will screw us all.
