For some reason, I always get happy when the seasons change.
Half a year ago at the winter solstice, I marked the setting of the moon, and yesterday I went out to see if the prediction would hold up.
Sure as shinola the sun set right on the same mark as the moon did half a year ago.
now that’s some good fun. . . nerd style
BTW, do you know what we call the four seasons in Canada? They are: almost winter, winter, still winter and construction. So, happy construction to all Canadians!

This one especially; it means Fall is on the way and the humidity disappears in the Ohio Valley. My wife however mourns that the days are getting shorter. Hers is The Winter Solstice. We’re thinking about sending cards this year in lieu Xmas greetings! And old fashioned Xmas, No tree and presents, the villagers will gather at the gazebo, paint the mayor blue, gut him and read his entrails. Memories!
I agree with Harry. In the Los Angeles area we have something called June Gloom, and as I look out there is a complete overcast and the temperature at 2:00 PM is about 64 degrees. What’s this thing, “summer”, you people are talking about?

And around here (Four Corners USA) we’re thinking it means Fall is on the way and hopefully we’ll start getting some moisture again.
As I write this the mighty La Plata River, well OK ‘creek’ by any standards . . . I didn’t name it… In any event, the La Plata River depends on the snow pack up in the La Plata mountains, and that snow pack is just about paid out. Where we’re at, about 20/25 miles from the source, the beautiful little stream is down to a trickle and will turn bone dry in the next couple days. Well actually that’s not true, since the stream continues to run underground. But even that flow depends on what’s left up in the mountains.
Ya know, the weather just ain’t what it used to be,
hahaha
and though droughts are nothing new,
ya know, there’s an ominous backdrop that didn’t used to exist.
These are the good ‘ol days,
savor every day for all it’s worth.

Agreed!
The Autumn equinox is my favorite seasonal change too.
I have cousins and friends living in the Phoenix area. They say it’s a dry heat. I could probably stand that but the humidity here is a killer. It’s litrally like someone slapping a wet washcloth over your mouth and nose while trying to breathe through it. August is especially bad. Combine high temps with nearly 100% humidity and the result is pure misery. We can’t wait for the Fall. The air is crisp, the leaves are turning and tempers return to normal.
