This is wrong on so many levels:

http://youtu.be/IrFKl9Da0jw

First of all, someone needs to straighten him out on the history of what he now knows as the holy bible. Second, even if he were right about that, who decided that “unchanging” means right and “changing” means wrong? I wish I had been there to ask him a few questions:

“So, I assume you still hold to all the laws and rules in the old testament, right? We can’t go revising those.”

“You’re a plumber—so I assume that you work only with lead pipe, and not any of the newfangled materials, right?”

“Since science is constantly changing and is therefore unreliable, I assume that you do not drive a car or use electricity, since they are products of science and should be considered dangerous. Right?”

I’m sure y’all can think of many more.

“Have you read the Bible”?

“The whole thing?”

Wow, Joe found god at The big boy how ironic! You see it was meant to be. Jesus touched his heart with a hamburger. See how simple it was Joe, just put down the menu grab any book, science, literature, the Koran, etc. and where but thefloppybook does it say “Holy”? Ah ha! Now I wonder what’s in this inerrant word of god? Who cares. it says holy and that’s enough for me. Just like the menu says “all beef patties”. No investigation means you are likely fed crap!

If Joe The Plumber thinks the Bible hasn’t changed, I would invite him to read the oldest known copies of some of the Old Testement which were found among the Dead Sea Scrolls. I’ve read translations and have several books on the subject in my personal book collection.

I also have several different translations in my collection and found over fifty different versions in the San Diego Library in the English language alone.

I got into a looong drawn out argument with a preachers wife about that. She was trying to use the bible as an excuse for some primitive bullshite. I called her on it. I asked her if she’d ever read the bible. She told me she read it every day with her family. I asked her if she’d read it from front to back. First she said yes…and when I called her on the lie, she changed her story and told me she hadn’t, and didn’t need to because hubby was a preacher man. I challenged her and told her I would read it with her, and she refused…typical christian…

The funny thing is that we atheists know the bible better than 90% of the so called believers.
People don’t really know what they believe, or have to believe.

btw: Is that the same man we saw during the election campaign in 2008?

Yep. The infamous Joe the Plumber that McCain used in his campaign.

I had one church lady insist that the “War In Heavan” was in the Bible and to prove it, she showed me an entry in the Book Of Isiah which of course, never said any such thing.

Apparantly, she never heard of Milton’s Paradise Lost.

I demand proof that Joe the plumber is actually capable of thinking.

Funny, but a lot of what xians believe about heaven, hell and end times comes from Milton and Dante rather than the bible.

I demand proof that he’s even a licensed plumber. (When he became famous, he wasn’t.)

Since a lot of Christians have never read the Bible…and I mean the whole thing, each book, and in context, this doesn’t surprise me.

Make that most. Most people I know don’t even know there are different versions of bible.

Hell I’d be curious if he’s an actual plumber and if his pipes leak.

Most people I know don’t even know there are different versions of bible.

Where I live, the prevailing attitude is “The King James is the One True Bible and all others are false.”

Ask them “What about the original manuscripts in Hebrew, Greek and Aramiac?

Response: “Uhhhhhh….uhhhhhh….uhhhhhhh…The King James is the One True Bible and all others are false.”

No rational discussion to be had there!

Three questions for them:
1. When did King James direct that the King James bible be written?

2. Who wrote the bible?

3. If god wrote it, when did he do so?

Hey, if the King James was good enough for Paul, it’s good enough for me!  LOL (Probably apocryphal, but I have heard more than one person claim to have heard a fundy say this. )
