No offence to ST fans, but this made me LMAO.

I clicked the link telling myself I would keep an open mind, then I saw the home page photo with the paintball background and almost spewed beer on my iPad. I’m sure most of these are really nice people, but they look ridiculous in their paramilitary garb. And you’d think there would be one half-decent photographer in the group. I could do better with an iPhone.

If I want to indulge in paintball, I think I can do it without the sci-fi element, but that’s just me.

If I want to have a go at a tactical combat course, I can likewise take me rifle or pistol to a nearby range and do the same thing. In light of all that, I’ll take a pass on this.

I am an avid Trekkie myself, have been for years, and the Great Bird knows I mean to give no offense.  But every time I think that it might be nice to join one of these fan groups, I see the pictures from conventions and wonder why so many of them seem to be overweight!  :(

Reminds me of a time when we were at the Renaissance Fair and people in Star Trek uniforms were in attendance claiming to be on the Holo Deck.

My favorite re-enactment story: A buddy who is part of the SCA told me about a time when the SCA, a pirate re-enactment group and a WWII group were in the same park or what-not doing their thing. The SCA and pirate folks were partying and having a great time, but the WWII folks where just quietly huddled in their tents. The WWII group was brought into the fun when the pirates ‘liberated’ one of the WWII group’s vehicles and drove it around whooping and hollering like, well, pirates.
