The selection of the extremist idealogue, Paul Ryan as the VP running mate, should, in a rational politically centrist America, be the death knell of the Republican Presidential campaign. But it won’t be. They have the money and the predisposition to tell the big lie, that Obama is going to destroy Medicare. This is typical Karl Rove tactics… Attack your opponent as having your own biggest weakness and lie and say that it is your strength.
They have a lot of other Paul Ryan baggage that they will be needing to lie or obfuscate about, but despite Republicans showing no adeptness in governing, in quite a long while, they have shown adeptness in lying effectively. And they have more money (aka, free speech) than ever to make the lies stick.

And worse yet, at least Liberals by and large feel some sort of guilt when they stray from the truth too far. With a conservative they’re strictly Ends Justify Means types who feel no compulsion to tell even a fragment of the truth.
Here’s another thing they’re great at: messaging. Have you noticed how Fox News and others have basically made using the words Nazi or Nazism almost meaningless? They call anyone they want a Nazi, a Communist, a Socialist, etc all in the same breath, regardless of whether or not the person even remotely IS one of those. So now anyone calling THEM Nazis or Fascists say, just looks like sour grapes. By effectively taking the main criticism that applies to their own belief system out of media circulation, so to speak, they’ve blunted most of that criticism by default.

I would not characterize my feelings for Karl Rove as love. I do think that he deserves almost the same respect as a rabid great white shark. However a shark behaves pretty much only on instinct, with no inkling of the repercussions of his behavior. Presumably, Rove has a sense of what is good behavior and what is evil behavior, but often chooses the latter.
I have a feeling we’re going to find out if Ike was right or not. (And by today’s standards, he’d be a damned hippie in the eyes of the GOP.)
He was right in warning us about the military-industrial complex. Also, the development of the Interstate Highway system that he largely initiated, may have been responsible as much as anything else in the US becoming an economic juggernaut.
Fear mongering about industry and using exhorbantly high taxes on the wealthy to build highways, what a Socialist he was.

Let’s assume that he made about $100,000,000 and his tax accountants managed to have all but, say $50,000 paid overseas so it’s hidden and not taxable. Now, after deductions he pays tax on about $30,000 or $5,580. Technically he’s not lying, but if he paid tax on all his income it would probably have been something like $29,000,000. And if he had given the percent on total income it would probably have been 0.000003%

I agree with everything on the video. the question is what are WE going to do about it? I don’t know how politically motivated everyone is on this site but one possible solution, instead of preaching to the choir (yeah I know it’s a religious cliche) is to share this info on Facebook and YouTube as well as discussions with friends and family. Ads don’t do it because we’re all jaded by now and will be thoroughly disgusted by October. Saturation isn’t always successful, but discussion is. those of us who are still union members are working through them to get the word out but as you aptly sited we’re now in the minority. We’re constantly warned to stay off religion and politics when talking with people we know but now is the time to bring these issues out for discussion and not care who we piss off. Debate is good, especially when you have the ammunition to back up your position. Believe me, the viral emails are flying through the internet and it’s time to refute the crap. Educate the public so Leno won’t be able to hold them up to scorn.
I try to do that, Jack. But it seems the majority of my FB friends despise anything political. So I try not to overdo it for fear of getting tuned out completely. But you are absolutely right. We have to spread the message to the masses.
