I’m almost always floored by PoI, especially Ibn Warraq, Salman Rushdie, Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris. Still, I’m curious, is there anyone that anyone elses wants to hear on PoI?
I’m a major fan of Richard Carrier, and have read a number of his writtings on infidels.org, to which he’s a major contributor. He seems, at least in my mind, to be one of the strongest atheist philosophers of modern times, and his style never ceases to amaze me.
I can only hope that they choose to bring him on someday.
Welcome Umoja. I can say there are any number of people I would like to have DJ interview, starting perhaps with Dr. Stephen Barrett, M.D., of Quackwatch.org. For those who don’t know the site, quackwatch is THE clearinghouse of information about quackery, and Barrett deserves all the kudos in the world for his tireless work in exposing these chiselling frauds to the light of day.

Diana Henriquez, of the NY Times, who has done excellent journalistic work in a continuing feature called “In God’s Name”. She would have a lot to say about economic and social rifts in the separation of church and state.
Edward O. Wilson, biologist at Harvard, big-time secular humanist. Probably the most influential public intellectual on our side, on this side of the Atlantic.
And most importantly, I’d really like DJ to get guests who aren’t entirely in agreement with him / CFI / most of us. The “groove” of head-nodding, self-confirming interviews would make speaking with supernaturalists somewhat uncomfortable, but it needs to be done. People like evangelist Rick Warren or new-ager Deepak Chopra are in the public eye, and I’d suggest we’d all gain from increased contact between the scientific naturalist community and the so-called “believers.”
Great idea. You will like some of our plans for upcoming shows, we are working to get Kirk Cameron, David Nobel, and other Christian apologists on POI. And through a connection we have in Tucson, to get Andrew Weil on the show.
DJ suggested I try and get Dennett and Rick Warren to have a debate like one of Dennett’s speechs about The Purpose Driven Life, and I have slated a discussion moderated by DJ between a leading Muslim apoligist and one of our people like Taner Edis or Ibn Warraq on whether Islam is compatible with the west, or doe sit lead to violence, a quiestion like that.
All of this is in addition to future guests planned (some of these recorded) such as another appearance by Niel DeGrasse Tyson, EO WIlson, Steven Pinker, Susan Haack, Ray Hyman, Peter Singer, and others. There are almost too many interesting people to be only having one show a week!
Dennett is certainly someone to have back, whether in debate format or on his own. And really glad you will have Neil Tyson again (one of my favorites), as well as Pinker, Wilson and Singer.
I’d actually like some interviews with the every day followers of religion. Maby get one of them in and put someone like Dennet or Harris in there and let them talk to each other with DJ moderating the conversation. I think that if there is a chance to get someone to question there own faith on air and have that interview recorded that would just be amazing
It might also be interesting to get a debate between two atheists or agnostics over the right approach to the issue: Harris and Dennett, or Scott Atran and Dennett might be interesting. (Harris and Atran would be less so).

Tom: If you get Warren at all - I have been trying to - let me know how to contact him. I have been emailing his webpage to no avail. I’d rather contact him first by email before I try the tele. I am trying to arrange for my radio show a debate between him and Robert Price.. the best person I think you and I should get to debate Warren because of Bob’s new book: The Reason-Driven Life! Yes, too many guests, not enough show! Same problem with ETFF! Tyson is great and so is Singer (only he was not so interesting about his book ‘The President of Good and Evil.’ If I had Pinker on, it would have to be a debate on Evo Psych with someone like philospher David Buller, but Buller is tired of being asked to debate Pinker. An EO Wilson/Niles Eldredge debate on sociobiology would be fun!
