I must be a new atheist. The neocon insiders who engineered 911 thought the act was justified in order for the US to regain it’s righteous place in the world as gods gift to humanity. (PNAC)
I really don’t follow. What does psikey’s favorite conspiracy have to do with being an atheist new or old?? Are you implying that it was religion that motivated the hijackers?

I’m more of a “Don’t-Know-And-Don’t-Care-iest”
And No Noecon insideres engineered anything, DM. They’re opportunists, but they’re not that smart.
Methinks thou misquoted.

Well ya, the OP’s little survey and explanation of what a new atheist is is messed up. I took him to be implying the religion in his post meant Islam and somehow he was indicting that religion. So I countered with something way more believable, that neocons in the US, with access to high ranking officials and Yes lots of know-how and similar minded people, is a much more likely explanation than a bunch of boobs from the middle east.

Except that it’s wrong.
The people behind 9-11 were religious fanatics of the first order, but fanatic doesn’t mean that they can’t work things out. These guys operated in country for years without being detected by using good old fashioned high-spy fieldcraft. They kept a low profile, didn’t do anything to attract the attention of the authorities, and the payoff was that they achieved complete tactical and strategic surprise.
To imply “a bunch of boobs from the middle east” can’t accomplished something like this in the face of absolutely irrefutable evidence that they did is racist at the very least.

You’re being facetious if course, because this sounds like the time honored conspiracy theory we hear so much about. And those killers were anything but boobs. Most of them were Saudi born of middle class families, not the primitive taliban fighters who’ve only read one book. One was the son of a cleric whose claim to fame is that he memorized the entire Koran. And as much as I have contempt for the philosophies of the neocons I really don’t think they’d try this as a stunt. I guess he needs to be more explicit with his definition of new atheism!

It’s really getting old. Why do people still believe in this stereotypical “arabs with boxcutters” crap, as if they all decided this a few days prior in their “caves” over breakfast or something lol. Much is known about who these people were. You can’t just choose whatever story is most appealing to you so it fits in with this evil governenment stuff.
