I don’t know, but I think his prime motivation is to make money and get grants from conservative institutions.

It was very unfair in the US elections of the year 2000.

I don’t see how you get that. The results which came out were fully in complaince with the law and the system worked exactly as it was intended to. That the guy who got elected was somebody a lot of us here didn’t support (Or wouldn’t have supported if we knew what he was really all about) doesn’t take away from that.

I’ve noticed that most of the complaints about the Electoral Collage come the fastest and the loudest from whatever side lost the election. The side which wins seems to think it’s a model of statesmenship and the “wisdom” of the Founding Fathers…or at least they do until it’s their turn to lose the election.

The majority of American voters wanted Al Gore to be their president, didn’t they?

Why not change the system, so something like this cannot happen again?

The trouble is that if the system is already unfair and a supermajority or even only a majority are supposed to be required to change it, but a minority either of low population states or the wealthy can, using the present system, block it. it’s quite difficult to overcome that obstacle.

Yes, I realize how difficult it is. But it’s still worth a try, right? It would also be good to have more than two parties in the House and Senate. I’m sure 5-10% of all Americans would vote for the Green Party for example.

People do try.  But the institutional hurdles, powerful special interests, and general public apathy make it a sisyphean task.
