IQ is increasing at a rate that could not be accounted for by evolution by natural selection.

I agree.

People have higher IQs and the causes are environmental - ie better nutrition, better education and teaching methods, etc.

I agree that some of the IQ causality could be this, but have no proof.

In any case ‘better educated at puzzle solving’ is also about IQ.

Yeah thats what I meant too.

If you can actually think more critically and better, it would be almost perverse to say that means your IQ score shouldn’t increase.

I agree with this also.

What I am arguing against is the presumption that IQ is somehow causal to supernatural vs natural belief.

Since there is no reason to think our genetic stock is better, the environment would HAVE to be the cause of ALL of the increase.

IQ could cause both academic achievement AND lower religious belief. Maybe IQ only causes academic achievement which causes lower religious belief. Maybe all three are caused (in whole or in part) by some fourth variable (I’m not sure what that would be).

However, I think we can rule out belief or disbelief in God causing IQ. (Maybe?)
