In the future, I suggest you consider using the free and open-source Inkscape graphics editor and making .svg files available. Editing .pdfs requires pretty expensive Adobe applications, but Inkscape is free and plenty powerful for things like this. You can get it free from http://inkscape.org/download/. I had a heck of a time with that darned pdf. (and I’ve got 40+ years of experience as a certified computer graphics expert.)
