Regulated markets work. All else are just dystopias !  Look to reality, not to fantasy, for answers! :D

1) Work for whom and for how long?  They have failed SG, lost out to neoliberal capitalism. Its just the nature of capitalism.

2) DYStopia?  You mean Utopia, I think.  Whose reality?  Yours?  You seem to have not read other ideas.

:D Works for the masses. Dystopia refers to those bad   ideal rolleyes  izations as utopias in effect are .Based on an existing system , what would you propose ? I f on an idealization, where in reality is there evidence for it . Laisssez -faire capitalism and communism do not work . How can there be a non-market solution anyway ? People in exchanging goods and services ,by defintion, make the market .

Wrong.  Works for the richest of us, and only placates the middle class and ignores most of the truely poor.

I proposed a social democracy minus market capitalism.  Swedon without the market.

No market?  Read Robin Hahnel or Takis Fotopoulos for starters.

That is why we have the welfare state to help anyone who falls by the wayside.  I stick with Krugman .

The welfare state has failed.  Government can not for long (neutrally) control free market capitalism… Capitalism is too powerfully dangerous this way. Krugman’s essays are hopeful, but even he (at a talk in NYC with Greg Palast and Amy Goodman) said he is pessimistic that a new New Deal will ever happen.  We must still work for reform of our current mess in America and re neoliberal globalization - reform that will do more of what the New Deal was designed to do and even more than the 1970’s Swedish model.. just to make things better NOW.  But we must do what the originators of social democracy (wekfare state) set out to do pre-WWII.. move toward a democracy which is free of market capitalism altogether.
